What kind of world is this? Is it only physical or also in some way spiritual? If so, how? Where, if anywhere, does God fit into the picture?

I am currently working on a new book, which approaches life’s big questions with the aim of discovering how to think about them, rather than of persuading the reader what to think about them. Although Dare to Doubt will be especially relevant to those who want to reach their own conclusions about the Bible, it is apologetics for neither Christianity nor Atheism. Rather, its approach is strongly influenced by my own background in Philosophy, which long ago taught me the delight of working through all of the relevant evidence and arguments, inferring from them the best explanation that you can find … and then continuing to engage with the evidence and arguments of people who have reached different conclusions, as you strive to fit your own answers, as best you can, to the contours of reality. The joy of this process is that it takes all of the questions, doubts and uncertainties that we might otherwise be reluctant to confront, and provides a methodology for approaching them with confidence.

Dare to Doubt applies to life’s big questions not only philosophical thinking but also evidence and conceptual tools from other disciplines, with the aim of leaving readers feeling better equipped to think things through for themselves; more confident about any conclusions that they may have reached; and motivated to continue to engage with the questions and claims that they have encountered along the way.
